Insurtech Lead, Accenture UK Insurance

Steve Watson has been with Accenture for over 14 years. During his career with Accenture, he has worked across Insurance as well as Banking in core SI Delivery, Advisory and Sales related roles.

In the early party of his career, Steve worked in the Commercial Lines space on the largest policy administration implementation in the industry at the time. Here, Steve focussed on analytics and early forms of big data architecture. Following that he transferred into retail banking, taking his data transformation and business analytics experience into core banking and compliance projects, including Basel II, mortgage impairment and data migration activities as well as another large application re-platforming.

Steve returned to the insurance sector in 2009 to lead a personal lines engagement delivering a new data warehousing solution for a large UK insurer. This included integration across policy, pricing, underwriting and claims to project inception through to end user implementation.

After a brief stint in sales where he focussed on origination as well as leading several bid teams, Steve has continued his work within the Insurance sector driving forward large scale Insurance transformation programmes covering policy, billing and finance and Accenture’s device agnostic digital channel application.

In 2016, Steve started leading the Accenture UK Insurtech Programme that includes leading the Insurtech workstream on the Fintech Innovation Lab London, as well as working with startups and clients outside of the Lab to integrate the wave of Insurtech driven technology change into the industry.
